General Manager HR and General Adminstration (m/f/d)


Company

Our client is the German Subsidiary of a leading Japanese manufacturer
for agricultural and industrial machinery, located nearby Frankfurt am Main.

From there, the company is selling their products for the markets in Germany
and Eastern Europe.

Workforce: approx. 100 employees.

Job description

Reason for the vacancy
  • Aside from the German subsidiary, there are several other European subsidiaries,
    which all report directly to the Japanese Mother Company.
    Our client wishes to change this system in the near future by establishing
    a European Headquarter through which all the subsidiaries in Europe will be
    connected and will thus be able to cooperate with higher efficiency.
  • For this reason, our client aims to employ a skilled General Manager for HR,
    who shall work together closely with the other European branches and improve
    personnel management in Germany.

Job Objectives 
  • Creation of an HR structure & system
  • This position concentrates and manages the HR-Activities of our client.
    The position owner will work with and be supported by the Company President.
    The objectives of the position will be to reform the HR Structure by implementing
    a performance based wage system, to mediate intelligently between the management
    and employees and to introduce systematic HR development processes
    among other responsibilities.

Main tasks 
  • Essential Job Functions:
  • Consult & Support to solve Labor relation issues - by suggesting solutions,
    coordinating the process, drafting documents and conducting
    meetings with employee(s) and employer
  • Manage HR Compliance - by monitoring each company’s handbook, policies
    and employment contract, as well as suggesting and drafting to revise them;
    staying updated on German law, suggesting necessary action
    and drafting recommended changes;by planning a training or
    education program for Managers and Staff.
  • Manage Hiring process - by coordinating the hiring processes and preparing
    supportive materials (ex. Questionnaire list); by joining interview sessions,
    especially in case for senior manager level positions;
    by planning an education program for Managers.
  • Maintain compensation plan - by suggesting and consulting compensation
    plans for each company, which include bonus systems, appraisal systems,
    fringe benefits and so on; by staying updated concerning
    market data and changes in German law and suggesting necessary action;
    by providing useful tools; by planning a group consolidated plan
    to provide better benefits to employees. 
  • Manage Human Development and education - by coordinating trainings and education for
    Managers and Staff as needed; by planning or arranging training programs for each company;
    by consulting succession plans for each company.
  • Implement HR Strategy - by planning and coordinating training programs such as to convey
    the companies Mission, Vision and Value; by planning succession plans for
    senior manager position in each company.

Position within the company hierarchy
  • The owner of the position reports to the Japanese President of the German subsidiary
  • Direct personnel responsibility for 1 employee in the HR & Administration Division

Team work
  • Closely working together with other European subsidiaries of the same company group

Travel 
  • At the beginning of the employment: No travelling necessary.
  • In the near future: occasional visits to other European subsidiaries in preparation
    to the establishment of the European headquarter

Requirement profile

Education
  • University degree

Professional experience
  • Ten or more years related experience and/or training in Human Resources;
     or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Responsibility for Human Resources Department at a medium sized company
    with a  production site in Germany

Special skills
  • Experienced in working as a HR Manager 
    (experience at international company advantageous) 
  • In-depth knowledge in HR Management issues, such as personnel reorganization,
    personnel management etc.

Language Skills 
  • German: Mother tongue
  • English: Business fluent

Experience in leadership 
  • Must have supervisory skills and management experience

Personal skills
  • Very high communication skills and intercultural competence
  • Be eager to keep updated practical knowledge of the HR & Labor
    relations in Germany
