international environment, with a company in the textile industry on a
growth path.
Company
Our client is an international supplier for the textile industry, with
headquarters in Japan and over 40,000 employees worldwide. This
traditional Japanese company with a history of almost a century focuses
on quality not only in regard to its products, but also concerning its
HR activities and the wellbeing of its employees. About 25 employees
are working at the local branch office in an attractive major city in
North-Rhine-Westphalia.

Organisational Integration
Reason for vacancy:
Up to now, the General Manager and the Senior Regional Manager have
been taking over most HR related tasks. The responsibility for the
payroll will remain in locally existing companies, but to ensure that
both the General Manager and the Senior Regional Manager can
concentrate on their core responsibilities, an EMEA HR Generalist (m/f)
will be hired to take over most of the other HR related tasks of the
European branch as well as to improve the EMEA-wide coordination
between the branches. The position holder is also expected to work
together with expat HR Managers in regard to company group policies.
Reporting Line:
The owner of the position reports to the General Manager or Senior
Regional Manager.
Closely working together with the HR departments of local subsidiaries
and branches in the EMEA region, who mostly take care of administrative
matters. Since the General Manager and the Senior Regional Manager will
still remain involved in strategic decision-making, regular
collaboration with them will be necessary.
Travel frequency:
Occasional trips (travel frequency about 30 %) to subsidiaries and
branches in Europe, possibly in Asia as well.
Objectives/ Tasks/ Responsibilities
This position concentrates and manages the HR activities of our client
in all involved countries. The two main objectives are the takeover of
current HR tasks and the EMEA-wide coordination of the HR structure
& system.
More specifically, the main tasks and priorities are:
Takeover of current HR tasks:
- Keeping track of working hours
- Administration of personnel files such as employment
contracts, CV, certifications as well as holiday requests
- Preparation of diverse questionnaires
- Handling requests for documents, forms etc. for new
colleagues, and provide visa support in case of new expatriate
colleagues
- Special situations and diverse requirements, e.g. long
period of illness/ illness matters or conflict between colleagues
EMEA-wide coordination of the HR structure & system:
- Establishing a salary benchmark system – by
collecting and analyzing salary information (in regard to specific
sectors and/or professions) on an annual basis for all states in EMEA
with local branches, in order to create a solid foundation for
consistent compensation plans.
- Coordination of rules and labor law requirements
– by communicating with the HR Managers of local branches in
EMEA to facilitate the implementation of a consistent HR strategy in
accordance with the rules set by the local branches; and by ensuring
that HR strategies are in accordance with the national labor laws of
the respective EMEA states.
- Consultant & Support to solve labor relation issues
– by suggesting a solution, coordinating the process,
drafting documents and conducting meetings with employee(s) and
employer.
- Managing HR Compliance – by monitoring each
company’s, subsidiary´s and branch
office´s handbook, policies and employment
contracts, and drafting revised versions; by observing changes in local
laws, suggesting necessary actions and drafting recommended changes; by
planning training or education programs for managers and staff.
- Managing hiring processes – by coordinating all
hiring processes and preparing supportive materials (e.g. Job
description, questionnaire list etc.); by joining interview sessions;
by preparing work contracts; by planning education programs for
managers.
- Managing human development and education – by
coordinating with HR Managers of local branches in EMEA to improve the
already existing Career Development Program (CDP) and the
appraisal/evaluation system in terms of consistency; by coordinating
training and education for managers and staff as needed; by planning or
arranging training programs for each company; by consulting succession
plans of each company, subsidiary and branch office.

Qualification
Educational achievements:
University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional experience:
The candidate needs to have working experience in a HR Department, e.g.
as a HR Referent or in a similar position. In-depth knowledge in HR
Management issues and of German labor law is also required.
If the new position holder would already have experience in an
international company or at a middle size company with subsidiaries in
other European countries, this would be considered advantageous.
Moreover, supervisory skills acquired by management experience would be
also beneficial for this position. Should the position holder have
knowledge of other EMEA countries’ labor law, this will be a
plus.
Languages:
German: business fluent
English: business fluent
Japanese: welcome, but not necessary
Personal skills
We are looking for a convincing personality, who should have especially
the following personal skills:
- Very high communication skills and intercultural competence
- Eagerness to keep updated practical knowledge of HR
& labor relations in Germany and other EMEA countries.
- Ability to skillfully negotiate, combined with perseverance
to achieve the desired outcomes
- Self-organized way of working and efficient time management
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
- Self-confident way of interacting with employees across the
company hierarchy, including the management
- Flexibility and willingness to act as a team player

Offer
The final amount of the annual salary depends on the experience and
background of the candidate.
The place of work is in an attractive major city in
North-Rhine-Westphalia.
